Pandering and Pimping to the Entitlement Class
Conservatives and Tea Party members have frequently been labeled as racists by the mainstream media and such pillars of the community as Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-Ca) and Congressman Andre Carson (D-Ind). This statement, as reported by the Huffington Post in August 2011, by Congressman Carson was made at a Congressional Black Caucus sponsored Job Tour visit event in Miami, “Some of them in Congress right now with this tea party movement would love to see you and me — hanging on a tree,” the Indiana congressman said.

No one calls the NAACP or Congressional Black Caucus members racist even when, unlike the Tea Party, their entire purpose is the advancement of an agenda benefiting a single minority based solely on race. “Race Baiters” should be an affront to all Americans regardless of race or ethnicity but unfortunately they are allowed to continue to profit from sewing strife and fomenting racial division.
These individuals are doing nothing more than seeking votes, contributions to their cause, or looking to get their face on the news or their name in print to satisfy their narcissistic needs. When I first became interested in the inner-workings of politics, a few decades ago, I held the belief that our government played an active role in racial discord in order to promote their own political agenda and to deflect Americans attention away from what was transpiring in Washington D.C. If politicians can successfully break Americans into special “voting blocks” then they are free to pander to whichever group can provide them with the most votes thereby assuring their election and the furtherance of their personal or party agenda. To that end we can view “Race Baiters” in the same fashion.
We as Americans need to carefully examine the motivations of any speaker who’s only goal appears to be the fueling of racial tension within America. I would venture to say that upon examination you will find that their motivation is purely egotistical and financial. They are not interested in the welfare of the group they’re addressing, the group is only a means to an end. Their rallying cry, normally for justice and equality, has a hollow ring when you are promising handouts at the expense of someone else.
I was not surprised to see Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton weigh in on the Trayvon Martin incident in Florida or Jesse Jackson to appear at the anti-NATO rally in Chicago because that’s where the news groups had focused their attention. It may be obvious to some that I did not refer to Jesse Jackson as “Reverend” and that was not an oversight. How can one, in good conscience, be called “Reverend” when all they worship is money and fame and all they preach is hate and divisiveness. The “Race Baiters” of the world whether they are politicians or private citizens are not looking for equality, they are seeking special status and handouts for the uneducated and uninformed masses who buy into their message. Their audiences believe they are oppressed because that is the message they so frequently hear from religious leaders and community organizers and this frees them from any personal accountability.
Furthermore, they believe it reinforces and justifies their desire for entitlements allowing them to rob the system guilt free because society “owes” it to them. Here’s a suggestion, how about taking personal responsibility for your standing in life. If you live in an area without jobs how about considering moving to where the jobs are located instead of looking for a handout at someone else’s expense. The fact of the matter is most of us don’t care what you call us and don’t have the time or energy to hold anyone back or oppress them because we are too busy working to pay for your entitlements that were bought with your votes.

You're suggesting that people who are financially hurting just…move? Are you serious about this or am I misreading your post? Did you know that moving costs money?
As for your racist rant, lol. Do you realize you're asking for a pat on the back because you had the good sense to be born relatively privileged? Enjoy that.
He was a bit hyperbolic but wasn't really suggesting that everyone who is having trouble move. He was simply stating that it is an option for some people. In this economy many people have been "going to where the jobs are." Just look at Williston N. Dakota. Also, don't be so quick to cry "racist." What Thomas wrote might be interpreted that way because he is mentioning Jessie Jackson etc. and it is therefore a natural assumption that when he speaks of the entitlement class that he means only Blacks. There are far more white people collecting a government check than black people. However, for the purposes of this article he is talking about those that pander to the entitlement class, in this case Jackson and Sharpton. They pander to the black subset of the entitlement class which is made up of all races and colors of people. There just are not any "white leaders" (for lack of a better term) exhorting the white underclass like with Jackson and Sharpton. That was the thrust of the article. It was never intended to be a racist article as we do not traffic in that on this site. The overwhelming majority of black people in this country are decent hardworking people. As cliche as it sounds, I do in fact have black friends some of whom I have known for 30 years. I always ask myself when reviewing articles like this one "how would they perceive this?" in this case I felt it was self evident.
